New Egyptian Party Vows to Push for Reforms
Egyptian lawyer and former Wafd party deputy Ayman Nur officially announced the launch of his liberal Al-Ghad (Tomorrow) party in Cairo, Thursday, October 28, 2004. Al-Ghad party received an authorization from Egypt's political parties committee on Wednesday. It is the third time the state body had granted a license to a party in 27 years. The party, which is created with the rare approval of the government, promised to push for reforms and amendments to the constitution. Al-Nur said the party models itself on the British Labour party.
