Fourth Hurricane to Hit Florida
Hurricane Jeanne peeled off roofs, snapped power lines, and left large swathes of coastline knee-deep in sea and rain water, as it plowed through parts of Florida already scarred by Hurricane Frances three weeks ago, Sunday, September 26, 2004. The fourth hurricane to pummel the southeastern state in six weeks, Jeanne knocked out power to over 2 million people along the Atlantic coast. Up to 3 million of Florida’s 17 million people had been urged to evacuate, but many decided to ride it out at home.
