Iraqis Return to Tall Afar After Heavy Fighting
Iraqi residents were still returning to Tall Afar Wednesday, September 15, 2004, as medical sources said that more than 56 people had been killed and 152 wounded in five days of heavy battles between US occupation troops and Iraqi resistance. US troops claimed that Tall Afar was a gathering point for foreign fighters entering Iraq from Syria, which is only 75 kilometers (47 miles) away.
