Israeli troops mass in Northern Gaza
Israeli armored vehicles backed by helicopters rolled into Palestinian-controlled areas of the northern Gaza Strip early on Wednesday, September 8, 2004. Witnesses said at least 20 tanks and armored vehicles had taken up position outside the Palestinian town of Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza before, as two helicopters circled overhead. There were no immediate reports of shooting or other military action. The action came a day after Israel's deadliest-ever strike against Palestinians youth camp, killing 14 in Gaza City.
