Massive Storm Moves Towards Florida
Strong winds and whipping rains began to lash eastern Florida, Saturday, September 4, 2004, as Hurricane Frances moved across the northern Bahamas toward the United States. The massive storm promised to bring torrential rain to Florida's Atlantic coast, where 2.5 million people have been told to evacuate their homes. Hurricane Frances has already delivered a pounding to the Bahamas, killing one person, blowing off roofs, downing trees and power lines, and causing widespread flooding in the 700-island archipelago that is home to 300,000 people.
