Palestinian Prisoners Resume Hunger Strike
Hundreds of Palestinians resumed a hunger strike in an Israeli prison, Monday, August 30, 2004, accusing the authorities of reneging on pledges to hold talks on prison conditions, a prisoners’ group said. The Palestinian prisoners’ association said that inmates at Shikma prison in the southern Israeli town of Ashkelon had begun refusing food again at breakfast. Palestinian women marched during a rally in the West Bank city of Ramallah in support of the hunger strike held by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
