A 115-year-old Islamic higher secondary school was destroyed in an overnight fire in Srinagar, Indian Kashmir, Monday, July 5, 2004. Police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength in the Kashmiri capital after the gutting of the old school triggered angry street protests. Three main buildings of the school were destroyed in the fire that broke out mysteriously. (AFP)
