The Feeling of Love During Ramadan

It was 1994 during the month of Ramadan
That’s the time when many Muslims finally open their Qur’ans
I was travelling through the states because I had a little time
It was 12 O’clock on Friday so Jumah was on my mind
Not familiar with the town I had to try and find a Mosque
I jumped into a cab kind of worried about the cost
Al-hamdu-lilah, Allah had blessed this day
The cab driver was Muslim and he was on his way to pray
When we arrived at the Mosque, I heard some ooohhh’s and aaahhh’s
Surprised at what I saw, that’s why I’m telling ya’ll
There was a sister in Hijab who had the gift of gab
It was her and the Imam, brothers gathered like a clan
The driver said,”Oh no! This happens every week.”
That sister’s always causing problems, it’s trouble that she seeks
I tapped one brother on his shoulder, asked him ‘cause he looked older
He told me, “She’s a soldier.” The cab driver said, “I told ya!”
I asked around to find out what had caused this mass hysteria
They said they found the soldier sister in the brother’s area
It was sad to see this type of stuff in the month of Ramadan
This could be just enough to make one leave Islam
So like a sheep, I joined the clan to hear what she would say
I don’t remember exactly but it kind of went this way
I don’t know who you think you are to start changing this religion
You brother’s can’t make me leave and that is my decision
I refuse to go downstairs in that dungeon you’ve created
Disrespect of Muslim women is what the Prophet hated
I’ve memorized Qur’an and I’ve studied the hadith
‘Aint no such thing as a brother’s area so you lying through your teeth
I didn’t say that as an opinion…Imam, I said it as a fact
Ya’ll brothers should be in the front and us sisters in the back
The Imam quietly said, “Sister, I’m just asking.”
“Please calm down a little bit, it’s Ramadan and I’m fasting”
“We’ll let you pray in the back if that’s what we have to do”
“But every week you make me wonder, Why In The World Did I Marry You!!!”
