Question: What is the ruling on one whojasts on some days Of Ramadhaan and intentionally eats on other days? Will the days that hefasted be counted or not?
Answer by Sheikh Yussuf Al-Qaradawi:
This question is past of the previous question, and our answer is that everything has its account. The question is not concerning the days that he fasted, are they counted or not? Rather, it is concerning the days that he did not fast, should he make them up or not?
It is not possible to make up a day for Ramadhaan except on a day like it in another Ramadhaan. And every Ramadhaan he is ineviTably busy with the obligation of siyaam. Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Whoever does not fast any day from the days of Ramadhaan, there is no day in this world which can make up for it.”
It was also narrated that a man did not fast during Ramadhaan, so Abu Hurairah said: “Even a whole year of siyaam would not be accepted from him.” And from Ibn Mas'ood: “Whoever does not fast a day from Ramadhaan without an allowance, even if he fasted the whole of his life it would not suffice him.” And from Abu Bakr andAli were sayings similar to this. The Muslim is to fear Allah concerning his religion. He is to safeguard the fast of Ramadhaan and conquer his desires. And the one that is defeated by his stomach will be defeated in any situation.
