Muslim Up joins the anti-U.S. products campaign
|
CAIRO,
March 12 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) – Enhancing the
already active boycott campaign of U.S. products, three French Muslims
of Arab decent established earlier in March a beverage company under
the name of “Muslim Up for Beverages,” whose products swept the
French markets in a just one month.
“No
to War, Yes to Peace. We want to see birds of love hovering high and
not jet fighters” is the banner carried by the fledgling company,
which flatly rejects the hegemony imposed by the United States on the
entire world.
The
French Liberation newspaper said Monday, March 9, the
company created the eye-catching slogan of “A Drink Different From
Drinks To Serve The Others” to lure more consumers and entrench
their foothold in the French market.
“The
Others means peace-loving organizations and communities,” the daily
quoted as saying Khobayeb al-Husni, one of the three owners.
“We
earmark a part of our profits for Muslim Up fund, which supports human
rights organizations,” he added.
They
also launched a website to
promote their drink, describing it as a “drink for all who boycott
the Zionist products and U.S. trademarks.”
“Muslim
Up is the drink of a generation fully mindful of Arab burning
issues…A generation aware of what the scourge of war and the
terrorism of quasi-countries really
mean…A generation advocating peace and love against clash of
civilizations, religions and peoples. Therefore, we earmarked a part
of our profits for a number of French charities,” read a prelude on
the Arabic section of the website.
“We
are French Muslim young men of Arab roots. Our unshakable belief that
we are part and parcel of France’s unity is on par with ours’ in
freedom, justice, equality and brotherhood between all peoples
regardless of their religion, nationalities or colors.
“We
work hard for the welfare of our society and we defend human rights as
fierce as we defend our religion against extremism and bigotry,” the
three Muslims introduced themselves to the visitors of their website.
On
the reason of producing the drink at this time, the website said it
has been produced in protest at the looming U.S.-led war on Iraq,
which “is only aimed at down-tread human dignity.”
They
also denounced the unbridled Israeli aggression on the Palestinian
people day in and day out.
“We
launch our project with the Israeli occupation army still determined
to nip the peace process in the bud.
“This
French drink is an alternative to U.S. products, which finance the
weaponry which claims the lives of innocent people,” they
underlined.
Drink
Arab Cola
Another
Frenchman launched “Arab Cola”
beverage with a capital estimated at 76,ooo euros.
“I
will allocate part of the profits to the organizations concerned about
helping poor Arab countries overcome environmental crises,” Gerard
le Plain told Liberation.
“I
hope that Arab Cola would find a thriving market in France, the U.S.
and the Middle East.
“I
try hard to distribute 2.5 million cans per month, in other words some
80,000 cans a day,” he said, noting that this figure was not a
wishful thinking given that the monthly distribution of the soda
products in France stood at 91.1 million liters.
Commenting
on the project, Liberation expected the two drinks would
make huge profits with most Muslims and French people boycotting U.S.
products for Washington’s drive to unleash war on Iraq even without
U.N. mandate as well as its belligerence and brazen support for
Israel.
