went missing on January 23 in southern port city of Karachi.

The Inspector General of Sindh Police, Syed Kamal Shah said that Sheikh Omar had not so far revealed anything “substantial” which could lead to the recovery of Denial Pearl.

“The investigations are on, however, Sheikh Omar Saeed has not so far disclosed anything substantial which could lead to Denial’s recovery”, Mr. Shah told IslamOnline Wednesday February 13.

Karachi police conducted raids on two suspected hideouts of Sheikh Omar group in the suburban areas of Karachi," Deputy Inspector General Police Tariq Jameel said. "However, they could not find any clue to Mr. Denial".

“We had information that Mr. Pearl has been taken hostage at a farm house some 30 Kilometers off Karachi. We raided the farm house but it was empty. However, the condition of the farm showed that it was being used by someone or some people till a few days ago”, he added.

“We are still hopeful that we will recover Mr. Pearl soon”, he maintained.

According to police sources, the raids were conducted by the joint teams of American FBI and Pakistani police.

In reply to a question, Mr. Jameel said that more arrests were expected in Pearl’s kidnapping case from the interior parts of southern Sindh province. He said that Mr. Pearl might be taken hostage somewhere in the interior of Sindh.

When asked if Mr. Pearl had contacted his wife, who at present resides in Karachi, the Inspector General Kamal Shah said he had no information about it.
