Are Iraqis better off now that Saddam has been ousted and captured? What is the situation like in Iraq now? What kind of life are Iraqis leading? Are Iraqis participating in and benefiting from the reconstruction process? What is the stance of the Iraqi people on the US-led occupation?

Ghazwan Al-Mukhtar, an Iraqi activist currently residing in Baghdad, joins us for a live dialogue on the situation in Iraq under the US-led occupation. Ghazwan Al-Mukhtar is a retired Iraqi engineer who was active in the anti-sanctions movement for many years. Al-Mukhtar, who has frequently spoken to the media about the situation inside Iraq before and after the 2003 war, is an independent thinker; he doesn’t belong to any political parties, and he didn’t belong to any parties in the past.

Currently an ordinary resident of Baghdad, Iraq, Ghazwan Al-Mukhtar was sent by the Iraqi government to the United States to study Engineering in 1962.
