Should wealthy people and their likes go for a second or maybe tenth pilgrimage or that they should help deprived Muslims? I'd like to know your views on this issue.

Salam Alaykum,

It depends on the reason for the hajj, certainly I would not deprive a person who feels they must go on a pilgrimage from going, but if it's just to boast about it then perhaps the money would be better channeled. I think we shouldnt condemn everyone because we think they should put their monies to better use, it's everyone's business what they do with their money.

For myself Alhamdulilaah I have performed my obligation, if I ever find myself performing hajj a third time it will be for a very very specific reason and not a personal inclination. It is not a picnic the hajj, it is extremely arduous and tries you in every way imaginable.

I think everyone who has gone or who intended to go this year will tell you it is getting harder and harder to apply for a visa now, and late laggers of ramadan can find themselves fined for as much as ten thousand saudi riyals when they finally decide to go back home. All in all the Saudi government is taking serious steps to minimise the pilgrims, so only those who are willing to pay through the nose or who have had the fortune to apply for a visa and been accepted will be able to go, that's to the good. If a millionaire wants to go through the trials of hajj, why prevent him? It's good for the morale and for the ego and builds character, perhaps it will make our rich more inclined to do good.

Allah has bountiful mercy brother and no one will gain something by preventing someone else from getting it.May Allah grant you and everyone hajj in shaa Allah.

:)

Brothers and sisters I believe that after going on Hajj for the second or third time it would then be added blessings to support less fortunate Brothers and Sisters to go on the Journey!

Rather than brag about how many times you have been on pilgrimage keep it to yourself with joy how many pilgrims you have helped make the journey!

Though I might add it would seem even benifitial to assist Brothers or Sisters for other issues like Education, Counseling and Consultation or Medical Attention and guide them to and pay for the services they need to improve their lives.

Mahsallah to those who give financial support to the less fortunate for a variety of needs.

May Allah bless you abundantly for such service to the poor or less fortunate!

This is a very interesting discussion indeed. I remember that I argued with my uncle and almost quarreled with him for going to "Omra" every year. I told him what he's doing is haram because he goes there to enjoy himself and he's the only one benefiting from that trip while our brothers and sisters are dieing out of hunger and need. I pray that Allah may not accept from those who go there many times and being selfish. Our nation's needs are more important than ones' selfishness.

I told him what he's doing is haram

**YOu are not licensed to call something haram or halal.

because he goes there to enjoy himself and he's the only one benefiting from that trip

***plenty of people benefit from that trip, traders, airlines. How much benefit do you think there is for the poor from the tourism in your country?

while our brothers and sisters are dieing out of hunger and need.

*** How do you know your uncle doesnt give as much or more to charity as he does for the price of going to do omrah or hajj? Have you ever asked him? How do you know the people who go every year, even every month to do omrah don't spend double or triple that amount on charities? How can you be so judgemental on people? I do not notice the same degree of anger expressed for people who spend thousands upon thousands to travel for pleasure in the summer. Or is that OK, and going instead to God's house, which is entirely halal by the way by consensus of all scholars and brings back the pilgrim in a repentant mood eager to help others and eager to care for others; something bad?

The problem in the crowdedness the Saudi government is quite capable of addressing and have addressed and continue to do so, may Allah bless them.

I pray that Allah may not accept from those who go there many times and being selfish. Our nation's needs are more important than ones' selfishness.

***This is an unworthy wish, it is cruel and it is entirely thoughtless, I pray to God to forgive you this.

A man once prayed and said : Oh Allah have mercy on me and the prophet only.

The prophet heard him and said: You have narrowed that which is wide brother of the arabs.

When a Muslim prays dear sister he prays for himself, for his family and for all the Muslims, he never curses because if the curse is undeserved it falls back on him.

May Allah accept the good deeds of all Muslims in these blessed days may he fill our hearts with love for each other and grant us His Mercy.

I just want to point out to you that the fact that your uncle or any Muslim who goes to do pilgrimage is NOT taking someone elses' place because that blessing was written for him, had it not been he would not have gone. Just the same as no one takes away from someone their job or their provision, it was never theirs in the first place, can you understand that? The provisions and blessigs that Allah has written for each of us was written before our births if Allah wills you will only eat one thousand kilos of meat in your lifetime you will NEVER eat more than that.

kul sana wa inti tayeba yaa ukhti( May every year find you well sister) and may Allah forgive you your sentiments.

Dear maryam 95:

If any follow your theory no one on earth can perform Haj or Umra,

Every where on earth there are people on hunger and poverty, in your

uncle's case I hope he gives his obligatory zakat then what prevent him

doing his annual umra and I advise him to perform umra in last

ten days of  Ramadan that will fulfill your jealous of  him enjoying.
