Assalamu Alaikum brothers and sisters I am from the country of Yemen. We, too, have a canon that fires at Iftar and at Fajr, but I don't think it has a name. Yemenis make a traditional food called samboosa (also known as samoosa). It is thin bread stuffed with a preferred stuffing (I like ground beef or potatoes), shaped like a triangle, and fried. My family LOVES dates, but we do not eat them much at any other time of the year. Dates are a special treat in Ramdan. At night, we pray Tarawih as a family, and on the last ten days of Ramadan, we pray Salaat Al-Qiyaam before Fajr prayer. My favorite part about Ramadan is making Duaa. It just has a soaring, purifying feeling, speaking to Allah with a heart completely loving and committed, and with no Shatytann whispering in your ear. During Ramadan, most channels on Arabic TV are airing new series', but the Yemen channel usualy airs many Ramadan contests, where people win a lot of money for answering questions. Here in America, our Ramadan is exactly the same, except that we don't hear the Adhaan from a nearby masjid, we hear it from our computer. I hope to hear more about Ramadan from other countires in the world. Salaam all.
