In some cultures, gatherings and celebrations are held for Hajjis before leaving to Makkah and when they are received back home. Sometimes, like in Egypt, the front of a pilgrim's house is painted and drawings of the Ka`bah and the sacred mosque are made on the walls with phrases of welcome to the coming back hajjis. What do you think of these traditions? I am afraid that such celebrations could be some sort of showing off that may lessen the benefits gained from Hajj. I would like to know your opinions concerning this as well as the sort of celebrations you have in you respective countries.
