I am a Muslim female living openly with HIV in my country for almost 13 years now so I've heard and seen it all, however, what amazes me is the stigma and ignorance of people still very present in most communities and countries.

The question is, what can we as people already infected do to combat this cloud hanging over our head?

After all, we are already struggling to live with the disease itself so why must we almost beg people to accept us?

My own solution: Accept your status and live life to the fullest, trust in Allah as He alone is your comfort and strength.

If you can, be open about your status and inform your community how you as an HIV+ person live, believe me they'll have a better understanding and would be more supportive and that is how you can start educating them as they too are in the dark just like most were before infection.
