TRIPOLI, November 27 (Mercy for Mankind) – The
seventh general conference of the World Islamic Call Society
continued to grab the attention of the media across the Arab world.
On Friday, November 26 – the opening day of the
gathering that lasts through Monday, November 29 – Egyptian second
biggest and massively circulated daily Al-Akhbar published a news
story on the WICS and its seventh general conference.
The paper, in its story which is based on a report
by the state run Middle East News Agency (MENA), described the WICS
as a non-governmental organization that adopts a balanced approach,
away from extremism and practices its call and relief activities
across the world.
The conference commenced Friday with the attendance
of all participants. Some 500 figures, representing great scholars,
Muftis, Sufi Sheikhs and heads of Islamic organizations and
associations, from 120 countries, are attended the conference.
The conference is also attended by a number of
guests, including political leaders, directors or regional and
international organizations, in addition to Muslim and Christian
intellectuals.
The opening session started after Maghrib prayer,
around 19:00 TLT (17:00, GMT).
All guests stood up as a band played the Libyan
national anthem (Allah is Great), then verses from the Noble Qur'an
were recited, then leading figures from the WICS delivered
ceremonial speeches and the conference was officially commenced.
Jordan's newspaper Al liwa' also published news
about the conference under the title; "Big international
figures attend Call Conference".
The news report touched on the general information
about the event, the number of participants and said that this
year's general conference put together great number of leading
religious, intellectual and even political figures.
The seventh general conference of the WICS has
grabbed the attention of many media outlets, especially on the
Internet, reflecting the significance of the conference entitled
"we have not sent you forth but a mercy for mankind"..
