Pilgrims desert their whole world
for a life-time journey that reflects their absolute
devotion. pilgrims devotes their time, health, money,
and effort to achieve this special voyage of body, mind,
heart, and soul.
They leave their houses, homelands,
careers, families, children, and possessions, and travel
to the dry harsh lands of Hijaz, to please Allah and
fulfill His law. They devote themselves whole-heartedly
to their Highest Beloved and neglect their personal
world — including their own selves — during this
incomparable journey.
They neglect their lives and
experience a private isolation from their materialistic
world into a spiritual world of devotion, dedication,
self-denial, and loyalty. The time of the journey that
the pilgrims enjoy, in solitude away from their human
materialistic joys and needs, and in complete
reconciliation with other devoted souls, teaches them a
life-time lesson.
The harshness of the excursion, the
desert, the weather, and lack of worldly luxurious
matters, yet the survival, confirms the lesson. That is
they can always do without their materialistic and
worldly needs. They go back to their homelands carrying
their realized treasure of truth, carrying devoted
hearts that would not need but the love of God to
survive.
