Hajj is a season for hearts to
submit peacefully to their Provider and Sustainer. This
is expressed through the practice of the Hajj rituals.
The first revelation in Islam was the order
"Read", directing people to think and
contemplate before they submit.
Hajj is a manifestation of the
submission created as a result. People are directed to
think and contemplate God's greatest creation — the
open book of universe — that encompasses the creation
of humanity, time, space, and so on.
When they willingly and peacefully
submit to His Majestic Will, their submission is then
expressed through daily and life-time rituals. Once in a
life time, such submission is exemplified in their
life-time journey, where they visit beloved lands,
circumambulate a stone house, and kiss a stone.
A one, big, united nation glorifies
the memory of a great humble family that submitted
peacefully in earlier times to the same One God. That
was Prophet Abraham, who was a father ready to sacrifice
his child, his son Prophet Ishmael, who was ready to
sacrifice his own life, and Lady Hajar, the great mother
who risked the life of her child in the rough harsh
desert.
They were saved as reward for their
peaceful submission. Both practices of the one united
nation and the great historic family are expressions of
submission of humble lovers to the Great Beloved One.
