Pilgrims should be aware that by
their resolve, they are purposing to leave their
families and homelands behind, forsaking pleasures and
desires as they set out to visit the House of God [the
Kabah], Most High.
They should hold in high esteem both
the House and the Lord of the House. They must know that
they have resolved upon a matter of high consequence and
an affair of great magnitude. Where great things are at
stake, the risks are also greatest.
They should make sure their resolve
is untarnished by hypocrisy and desire for eminence, and
is purely for the sake of God, Glorified is He. Let them
be fully aware that only what is sincere in their
intentions and actions will find acceptance, and that
there is no offence more outrageous than to visit the
House of God and His Sanctuary for ulterior motives.
They should check with themselves to
verify their resolve. The verification is in their
sincerity, and their sincerity lies in shunning all
taint of hypocrisy and desire for eminence. Let them
therefore be careful to replace what is unworthy with
something better.
