Auspicious Time

Khatirah [Short Talk]

Welcome Ramadan

Sheik Faisal Mawlawi

Ramadan is the greatest month in the Sight of Allah, thus He chose it to be the time vessel for the most honorable act of worship, which is fasting.

Fasting is the act of worship which Allah the Almighty attributed to Himself and declared its reward to be continuous without any sort of restriction or limitation: “…Except Fasting; it is for Me and I Am the One Who will give reward for it.”

Also, Allah Almighty chose it to be the time for the start of Divine Revelation of the Glorious Qur’an, {Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Power. Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is!} (Al-Qadr: 1-2)

Thus, Allah Almighty has gathered together for all Muslims in this auspicious month two great blessings: the Qur’an and fasting.

The Qur’an determines for one his way of life, {Lo! this Quran guideth unto that which is straightest}. (Al-Isra’: 9) and enables him to differentiate between what is good and what is evil, what is true and what is false, and what is right and what is wrong. Therefore, Allah Almighty describes the Glorious Qur’an as {a guidance for mankind}. (Al-Baqarah: 185) and, {clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong)}. (Al-Baqarah: 185)

However, sometimes man fails to pursue the right path and is led by his lusts and desires to commit sins and follow the evil path. This causes his will to weaken and thus fail to come up to the standard of shouldering the responsibility. Then, comes fsting as an unprecedented means for educating and disciplining the will. Also, the educationists are – and they will be – unable to discover and comprehend the effects of fasting on the human nature and how it could change its course and force it to do all that is good and recommended.

It is no wonder then that one notices that the eloquent Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, throughout his teachings, encourages the fasting person to keep away from falsehood or acting upon it and avoid all sorts of evil such as telling lies and arrogance. He also encourages one to be modest and not to slacken in doing what is fair and to demonstrate a turn-the-other-cheek attitude by showing clemency towards a person who wrongs one as well as spending in Allah’s Cause even with a half of a date, to increase the number of one’s good deeds and to raise oneself above vain whims and vanities.

Ramadan Blessing Tutelage…

It instills in one sense of knowing the truth and acting upon it.

What a high standard tutelage! But in need of diligent students.

Dear fasting brother, don’t you want to pass in to that tutelage and school of blessing, and pass out with flying colors?

Then, balance your own deeds very strictly, and remember all your brothers in Palestine, Afghanistan and all Muslim countries.

Remember them with good, Du`a’ and aid.

Enjoy this blessed month, and

Ramadan Mubarak.
