Conquest of `Akka

It was in 699 A.H. that Sultan Az-Zahir Baibars besieged the `Akka fortress. When he took the helm of the city, he granted its inhabitants full security. He entered the city on the day of `Eid Al-Fitr and was given its keys. Due to the strategic location of `Akka, which is a valley between two mountains, Muslims find it difficult to invade.
