The Month of Do Not’s

By Sheikh Muhammad Ali Al-Hanooti

Ramadan is a title that reflects heat and thirst. That is the most difficult “don’t” in everyone’s life. If I were to put a title for this month other than Ramadan, I would call it the month of “do not’s”. It controls our desires and lusts from being consistent of “yes, I do!” The disciplinary trend here is “don’t” do.

When we are successful to control our desires in following do not’s, then we are inevitably successful in the reception of guidance and reception of “do”. Don’t you see with me the majority of problems with people is that everyone is fighting against “don’t”. Those who break the law or violate a rule are always obsessed with “don’t”.
