1-
Declaring the intention to go for Hajj some people say: “O Allah!
I intend to go for Hajj (or `Umrah)”. But the right thing is to
say: “Labbaika Hajjan (or `Umrah)!” Meaning, upon Your
order, I go for Hajj (or `Umrah).
2-
To neglect chanting Talbiyah or uttering it in a low voice.
This contradicts the Prophetic Sunnah, because the Prophet, peace
and blessing be upon him, clarified that men are to chant Talbiyah
in a loud voice, while women have to utter it in a low voice.
3-
It is a common mistake not to contemplate the meaning of the words
of Talbiyah. As it denotes complete submission to Allah and
compliance with His orders, turning unto Him with both hope and
fear. So man is to contemplate the words of Talbiyah in
order to pronounce them with full sincerity and awareness of their
meaning from the bottom of one’s heart.
4-
Some people take a guide who pronounces the words of Talbiyah
loudly and they are to repeat after him. But this contradicts with
the Prophetic Sunnah, and there is no evidence on it. It also
contradicts the authentic acting of the Prophet’s Companions, may
Allah be pleased with them all.
