Melancholy Melody

By Ritama Gupta
Kolkata, India

15/07/2003

A soft tune hovered by,
I didn’t know how it came or why
I stood amidst the smoky clouds.
My mind spinning and whirling in rounds
Why is there hatred up and down?
Why is there hatred all around?
There was that melody still ringing.
The melancholy tune, still singing,
Singing for me to come along,
Ringing for me to leave that
Hatred some time long
There is war waging that way
But I won’t go for the big fight.
I will follow the tune, tune of peace.
All the way,
Till my hair turns to grey
