Palestinians Remember Nakba; Israel Celebrates Founding
Palestinian refugees gathered near the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday, May 8, 2008, displaying the keys to their old homes in an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of nakba (catastrophe) when they lost their homeland in 1948. Israel celebrates its 60th anniversary at the same time.
