Muslims Protest Across Europe over Cartoons
Muslims held a series of largely peaceful demonstrations in European cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and Berne in a protest against the publication of Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad. Up to 4,000 demonstrators converged on Trafalgar Square in central London on Saturday, joining the capital's mayor Ken Livingstone. The cartoons were first published in September in the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten and were then reprinted by papers in other countries.
