Hopes Fade to Find 141 Miners Alive
Hopes are fading of finding alive 141 miners trapped after a gas explosion at a coal mine in central China on Sunday, but rescue workers continued their work to find any survivors, Monday, November 29, 2004. At least 25 other miners are known to have been killed by the blast at the state-owned Chenjiashan coal mine in Shaanxi province. Chinese media reported that the mine may have been kept open despite safety fears, following a fire a week ago.
