Actions:

Alter the nervous system causing visual and aural hallucinations, a sense of unreality, and changes in the thought processes and behavior.

Characteristics:

Slightly delayed onset of symptoms.  Persistence of symptoms for a period greatly exceeding exposure time.  Unpredictable effects ranging from overwhelming fear and panic to belligerence in which exposed personnel attack with no regard for personal safety.

Treatment:

1. LSD: Remove patient from source of    exposure.  Assess, stabilize and reassure.  No specific antidotes exist.  Monitor vital signs.  Check airway and circulation.  Avoid restraints but ensure patients do not injure themselves.Reassure and sedate with diazepam if necessary.

2. BZ Gas:  Rapid removal from source of exposure.  Remove contaminated clothing.  Administer physostigmine salycilate intravenously.
