Will The Fast Of One Who Abandons Salaah Be Accepted?

Question: Will the siyaam qf one who abandons salaah be accepted? Or are the acts qf worship all linked together in that ij'one is abandoned then none of them will be accepted?

Answer by Sheikh Yussuf Al-Qaradawi:
The Muslim is required to perform all the acts of worship: esTablish salaah, give charity, fast Ramadhaan, and perform pilgrimage to the House by whatever way he can get there. So concerning the person who abandons any one of these obligations without an excuse accepted by Allah, then there are various opinions with the scholars of Islam. Some declare disbelief on those who abandon any one of them. Some declare disbelief on those who only abandon salaah, because of its status in the religion of Allah and what has been transmitted that “Between a worshiper and disbelief is abandoning the salaah.” (Collected by Muslim.)

Also, there are those who declare disbelief on these the fast will not accepted from disbelievers. Then there are scholars who declare that faith and Islam remains with those people as long as they believe in Allah and His Messenger and what he came with, not denying them or doubting them. Then the final group are those who declare them as sinning transgressors against Allah.

Perhaps this opinion, and Allah knows best, is the most just of the sayings and the closest to the truth. If this is so, then if the person was not constant in the obligations because of laziness or desire (not denying or belittling them - but performed the other things), then his Islam is deficient, faith weak, and we fear that he will lose his faith if he continued his abandoning. But Allah will not put to waste the reward of any action that he did in a good way. Rather, he will have with Allah the amount of his actions. For him is goodness for what he has performed, and a sin will be written for what he has neglected.

“And everything small and big is inscribed.” (54:53)

“So whosoever does an atoms weight of good shall see it, And whosoever does and atoms weight of bad shall see it.” (99:78)

“So whosoever does an atoms weight of good shall see it, And whosoever does and atoms weight of bad shall see it.” (99:78)
