The authentic Mexican taco should not be confusd with the California taco which has added ingredients.

  • 1 cup wheat flower

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 -1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon shortening

  • 3 cup warm water

  • oil to deep fry

Method:

  • Mix the cornmeal flour ,wheat flower, baking powder, salt, shortening and warm water and knead into a soft dough.

  • Roll out thin roti (rounded bread )and cook over griddle, on both sides.

  • When cool, deep fry the roti to a light brown and bend them gently to form a half folded round.
