JEDDAH,
April 23, 2006 (IslamOnline.net) – The International Association for
New Muslims (IANM) organizes on May 12-14 a forum to introduce
Islam and Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to the
Norwegian people in the face of a defamatory media blitz.
"We
want through this forum to activate the role of Muslim reverts in their
respective societies and encourage them to introduce the true image of
Islam to the other and refute calumnies associating it with terror and
violence," IANM Secretary General Sheikh Khalid Bin Romaih
Al-Romaih told IslamOnline.net.
The
three-day "The Given Mercy" forum is co-organized by the
Islamic League in Norway and under the auspices of Abdullah Bin Abdul
Muhssein, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League.
"The
forum helps counter odious and twisted information circulated by western
media to tarnish the image of Islam and the Prophet," added Romeih.
"It
is incumbent upon us to acquaint people with the truce Islam."
The
Jeddah-based IANM
is a non-profit organization with a body corporate which branches from
the Muslim World League.
It
is mainly concerned with coordinating between Islamic institutions and
establishments working in the field of new Muslims.
IANM
organizes cultural, social and educational programs that are of benefit
and meet the needs of new Muslims.
It
also provides audio, visual, written and electronic materials to new
Muslims.
Prophets
Romeih
said the forum will highlight the prophet's ground-breaking change to
humanity.
It
will discuss verses in the holy books of the three divine religions,
which mentioned the prophets and prophesied the advent of some.
The
forum's title is also the topic of one of the sessions.
"Islam
and Human Relations" and "Islam and Europe…..Conflict or
Collaboration?" will also be discussed.
Vebjoern
Selbekk, the editor of the Norwegian Magazinet magazine,
apologized to Muslims on February 10, for publishing the Danish cartoons
lampooning Prophet Muhammad.
After
initially defending the reprinting of the cartoons as an expression of
press freedom, he appeared before TV cameras shaking hands with Muslim
leaders after his apology.
The
cartoons controversy has motivated world Muslims to champion local
know-prophet campaigns to introduce Islam to non-Muslims.
In
March, Muslim scholars decided to establish an international
organization and a fund to defend the Prophet against defamatory attacks
in the West.
IslamOnline.net
has also launched a multi-lingual website to acquaint non-Muslims with
the prophet.
