CAIRO,
July 14, 2005 (IslamOnline.net) – Shahara Akhter Islam, a
20-year-old British-born Muslim woman killed in the grisly London
bombing attacks, was the embodiment of multicultural Britain, reported
British newspapers on Thursday, April 14.
"Born
to a devout Muslim family, she attended mosque every Friday, but was
also a Westernized young woman who shopped for designer clothes, shoes
and handbags," wrote The Independent.
The
Co-operative Bank cashier became Wednesday, July 13, the first Muslim
victim to be confirmed dead in last week's bombings, which killed at
least 52 people and wounded more than 700 others.
"She
would have been filled with anger towards the bombers," her
father, Shamsul Islam, was quoted as saying by The Herald.
"She
loves London and Britain."
