DOHA,
February 25, 2005 (IslamOnline.net) – A Qatar-hosted conference has
called for disseminating the culture of peaceful resistance to
aggressive policies adopted by world powers towards Muslim countries.
The
conference, entitled "peaceful resistance to aggression against
the Muslim world" and was due to wrap up later on Friday,
February 25, is attended by a cohort of senior Muslim scientists,
intellectuals and men of letters from all over the world.
A
punch of working papers were discussed during the three-day gathering
on the legal, economic, political, media and educative resistance to
all forms of aggressions against the Muslim world.
Dr.
Abdel Rahman al-Nuaimi, the chairman of the Arab Center for Studies
and Research and the chairman of the organizing committee, said
Muslims are coming under severe fierce campaigns from world parties
attempting to impose their hegemony over the Muslim countries and
destroy social systems there.
Such
campaigns aim at tarnishing the image of Islam and mocking at the
constants and values of the Muslim peoples, he told the opening
session.
"In
response to such aggressive campaigns, the conference calls for the
adoption of all peaceful means as well as the economic, media and
legal tools, to stand up to these aggressions."
Resistance
Khaled
Mashal, the Hamas politburo chief, for his part, stressed that
peaceful resistance is the only way for the Muslim nation to get out
of its current dilemma.
"The
peaceful resistance acquires a special importance for a host of
reasons, foremost of which is that any military aggression is
accompanied by other types of aggressions to deepen the feeling of
defeatism in occupied areas. Consequently, these kinds of aggressions
require different forms of resistance."
"Secondly,
the resistance is a complete and complicated case that must not be
confined to only the military side. It requires other elements to
succeed."
Mashal
stressed that the main points of the peaceful resistance program
center on pushing the western countries to "disengage" from
the Zionist project which poses major threats to the whole world.
"The
West is now aware that the Zionist entity is posing a major threat to
its security. And the Arabs and Muslims have proved that they are able
to stand against the US hegemony."
Hegemony

The peaceful resistance is the only way out of the Muslim nation from its current dilemma, Mashal said

Dr.
Abdullah al-Nofesi, a Kuwaiti intellectual, agreed.
"If
we look at the ties between us (Muslims) and the West, we will find
that the West has been trying to impose its hegemony, including at the
spiritual and religious levels, on us," he said.
He
stressed that the West is touting the new terms of globalization in
order to impose hegemony over the whole world.
"This
is an intellectual trap through which they want to change the Muslim
curricula as they did when propagated that the US is seeking economic
interests, especially the oil, in the Arab and Muslim world."
Proving
his point, Nofesi cited the severe campaign regarding Al-Quds
(Jerusalem), the Israeli-occupied city at the center of a campaign
that he said is only meant for changing the Muslim history and
religion.
"This
campaign was launched against the city for its spiritual importance
for the Muslim peoples. This was also the main goal of the past
crusades to occupy the city and the support for the Zionist plans to
Judaize Al-Quds."
Cooperation
Other
participants pressed for a stronger cooperation among all Muslim
countries to stand against aggressions against the Muslim nation.
"To
stand against such aggressive campaigns, the Muslim peoples must stand
together, using all forms of resistance, against such aggressions.
This resistance should be based on a comprehensive strategic vision
drawn up by senior Muslim scholars," said Sadr al-Din al-Bainoni,
the secretary general of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.
Bainoni
further called for disseminating the culture of resistance in all
Muslim societies.
