RAFAH,
Gaza, May 22 (IslamOnline.net) - 57 people were killed, some 300
others wounded and about 1500 families became homeless and had to
resort to schools or public squares to stay after their houses were
pulled down, according to the latest statistics obtained Saturday, May
22, by IslamOnline.net of the Israeli aggression against Rafah
inhabitants.
Various
sources asserted the figures on top of them were the victims
themselves. On the ground, in the southern Gaza Strip town and refugee
camp, the scene was beyond description, to put it mildly.
Hundreds
of homes were completely or partially destroyed.
The
occupation has demolished 80 houses in Brazil neighborhood, according
to relief agencies, while the demolition operations were still
underway in Tel Sultan and al-Salam neighborhoods, indicating the
figures, of both human casualties and destroyed homes, were yet to
keep climbing.
Rafah
inhabitants described what they termed "the massacre"
perpetrated by the Israeli occupation troops as bloody and horrible,
underlining that "Zionist war criminals" who killed 57,
injured 300 and demolished hundreds of houses should be put to trial.
Horrible
Scenes
The
most brutal scenes of destruction are those documented by Abu Youssef
el-Naggar Hospital director, Dr. Ali Moussa, who said that
"medical convoys that work in Rafah camp have found remains of
several corpses of victims, whom the Israeli occupation forces
targeted with Apache choppers."
"Most
decapitated body parts were moved to the hospital totally
figureless," he added, describing scenes Rafah residents believe
"would stand witness to the Zionist crimes."
Al-Salam
neighborhood inhabitants were seen searching the ruins for charred
remains of the corpse of Khaled Abu Anza, 42, who was a leader of
al-Qassam Martyrs Brigades in Rafah, after he had been directly
targeted by an Israeli missile.
Words
failed the Palestinian citizens, who gathered following the Israeli
redeployment in Tel Sultan, Brazil, and al-Salam neighborhoods, to
describe the brutality of the massacre.
Most
reporters were amazed at the extent of destruction and the
"bloody scenes" whose traces they witnessed on the ground.
They did not even need the accounts of the Rafah residents.
"Genocide"

A
Rafah resident, Abdullah Abu el-Enein, 50, said, "During the
genocide operation by the occupation troops, they called through loud
speakers for some citizens to come out. Once they did, the troops
opened fire on them brutally.
"They
just shot them one by one as they appeared out of their homes".
Mahmoud
Abu Gazar, 25, pointed out that the occupation forces set up
concentration camps to detain citizens in the adjacent military Tel
Zaarab zone.
"Occupation
forces called upon men between 16 and 40 to get out of their homes and
gather in Kamal Edwan school but families refused to let their sons
out until their houses were brutally and coarsely attacked and we were
led handcuffed and blindfolded to the military Tel Zaarab field.
There, we were interrogated about resistance and martyrs, then they
released some of us. Others remained under detention," Abu Gazar
said.
Devastated
Region
In
Brazil neighborhood, stories are more horrible and scenes of
demolition of tens of houses are heartbreaking. A large number of
houses has been destroyed. Missiles destroyed parts of them.
Before
the morgue, families gathered to bid farewell to more than 30 bodies,
as the mother of Hany Koffa, who was killed during the shelling of
Belal mosque at dawn, recalled the death of his brother Amir and some
of his companions at the hands of the Israeli occupation troops.
Tahani
al-Baoumy, a nurse who managed to provide some of the wounded with
first aid services, told IslamOnline.net: "Upon hearing the
screams of the wounded, the residents managed with difficulty to sneak
away and carry the wounded to my house but they all died, as their
wounds were severe."
Tulb
Abu Teema, 50, said that "the Israeli bulldozers operated day and
night to complete the demolition operation in Brazil neighborhood to
enable tanks to enter the area."
"In
the following morning, we felt an earthquake. We were 16. My sons and
I got out yelling in the face of the killers under the rubble and we
survived a near death," he added.
Psychological
War
Within
the framework of the psychological warfare launched by Israel, the
occupation troops distributed a statement among the inhabitants to the
effect that "saboteurs still continue their operations."
The
statement said that the occupation army will keep waging relentless
war against what he signaled out as "saboteurs, their supporters
and weapon smugglers" and some names were mentioned.
The
statement called upon Rafah inhabitants to confront "sabotage
operations" and was signed by "Israeli Defense Army
leadership."
The
aim is only clear. To incite Palestinians against one another.
