GAZA
CITY, March 7 (IslamOnline.net) – At least fifteen Palestinians,
including several children, were killed and more than 80 others
wounded during an Israeli army incursion into the Al-Bureij and
Nuseirat refugee camps in the Gaza Strip at dawn Sunday, March 7.
Witnesses
told IslamOnline.net that the occupation troops stormed the two camps
backed by tanks and armored vehicles, opening fire indiscriminately at
houses.
A
Palestinian Authority statement put the death toll at 15, including
three children, reported the official WAFA news agency.
A
statement by Ezzudin Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said
the resistance group lost 11 of its activists in the Israeli attack,
including nine from the brigades.
The
director of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mosadar, told IOL
earlier that 14 bodies have been ferried to the hospital.
He
said more than 80 Palestinians were wounded in the raids, including
four in life-threatening condition.
Witnesses
said Palestinian fighters exchanged fire with the Israeli troops and
fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), obstructing one of their
vehicles.
An
Israeli military official confirmed an operation was underway in the
al-Bureij camp and said "armed militants" had been
confronted.
Israeli
military vehicles surrounded
anew on Friday, March 5, the Ramallah headquarters of
Palestinian President Yasser Arafat with reports that occupation
troops conducted recently a simulation of what would happen when
Arafat dies.
Israeli
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz also decided Friday to
seal off the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a preparation for the
approaching Jewish carnival of Purim.
