GAZA CITY, May 14 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip on Wednesday, May 14, raising the death toll to five for the day and to 37 for the last two weeks.

A 12-year-old boy was shot in the head in the grounds of the main hospital in the northern West bank city of Jenin when Israeli soldiers opened fire on a nearby house where they claimed “wanted” people were holed up, a Palestinian medical sources was quoted as saying.

The boy was killed and six others, also inside the hospital compound, were wounded in the shooting, hospital nurse Said Atatra said, Agence France-Presse (AFP) said.

"When the shooting started, many of the civilians and neighbors of the house took refuge inside the hospital walls," he explained.

According to several witnesses, two women and three girls aged four, six and nine, were used as human shields by soldiers firing at the building allegedly sheltering the Palestinian gunmen.

A few miles to the south, the army raided the narrow streets of the city of Nablus' old quarter, sparking clashes with gunmen, Palestinian security sources said.

A member of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, was shot dead and some 25 young stone-throwers wounded, the sources added.

The invading forces also abducted a number of inhabitants of the area, eyewitnesses told IslamOnline.net.

More Raids

Israeli forces also killed a 12-year-old Palestinian boy in Jenin

The West Bank flare-up capped a day of violence that started with bloody army raids in the Gaza Strip, when three Palestinian policemen were killed and three others wounded by Israeli forces.

Twenty-six other Palestinians were also wounded, 23 of them by a missile fired from a U.S.-made Israeli helicopter gunship, during an Israeli incursion into Khan Yunis, according to Palestinian security sources.

In an interview with IslamOnline.net, Palestinian public security sources said a unit of Israeli commandoes sneaked into Wadi Gaza area in the south of the Gaza City and opened fire at the Palestinian security personnel.

More than 20 Israeli armored vehicles, accompanied by three bulldozers and covered by helicopter gunships, stormed into the Khan Yunis Palestinian refugee camp from the direction of the Jewish settlement of Neve Dekalim to the west.

An Israeli army spokesman confirmed the incursion into Khan Yunis, saying its objective was to put a halt to mortar fire coming from the area.

In the West Bank, Israeli troops raided the northern refugee camp of Tulkarem and abducted seven Palestinians.

Larger Toll

Meanwhile, Palestinian Health Ministry put at 27 the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces in the last two weeks.

“The martyrs included nine children, the youngest is a two-year-old toddler who was shot in the head and abdomen,” Palestinian Health Minister Kamal Al-Sharafi told reporters.

On Thursday, May 1, Israeli forces killed 13 people and wounded 55 others, mostly children, when they thrust into a densely populated area in Gaza City.

More than 234 Palestinians were also injured during the Israeli incursions, including 146 in the West Bank and 88 others in the Gaza Strip, al-Sharafi added.

Solana Scraps Israel Visit

On the diplomatic front, European Foreign Policy Coordinator Javier Solana scrapped a visit to Israel after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's office declared he would not be able to meet with the E.U. official because of Solana's plans to meet Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, reported the Israeli Haaretz daily.

Meanwhile, Sharon's chief of staff Dov Weisglass went to Washington Tuesday, May 13, to prepare the groundwork for the prime minister's meeting next week with U.S. President George W. Bush.

Before Sharon departs, he will meet with new Palestinian premier Mahmoud Abbas, aka Abu Mazen, most likely on Saturday night.

Israel Radio reported Wednesday that Abu Mazen would likely be accompanied by Palestinian parliament Speaker Ahmed Korei, Abu Ala, and his Security Minister Mohammed Dahlan.
