NABLUS,
May 12 (Islamonline.net & News Agencies) - The released names’
list handed to the detainees’ representatives by the Israeli
government in “Ansar 3” detention camp in Negev Desert held no
optimism to the Palestinian detainees, or their families since the list
contained only those who were about to be released anyway.
Hosam
Al-Asi, who was detained for 6 months was included although he had
already spent 5 months, 29 days of them, according to al-Quds Press.
According
to the detainees’ representative in Ansar 3, the list included 25
FATAH members, 21 from Hamas, 8 from the Islamic Jihad and 7 other
Palestinians, Quds Press said.
The
Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) described the Israeli announcement of
releasing 60 Palestinian prisoners as a ‘deceit’. The club’s
spokesman added that the names included in the list have only 13 days to
finish their imprisonment periods, describing the move as a cheap way to
mislead the public opinion, and to ignore the humanitarian tragedy
inside the detention camps, as well as to manipulate the international
law which does not permit administrative detention.
The
PPC added in a statement that the Israeli style in handling release
operations pertains to the Israeli so-called “good intentions” which
permit the Israelis to run the release process under the ‘Zionist’
criteria and conditions and from one side, marginalizing the
detainees’ case as a core issue.
The
statement called on Abu Mazen’s government to work seriously on the
detainees issue as a political matter in order to release them and to
achieve peace.
Sameh
Al-Sae’h, from the Human Rights Solidarity Foundation downplayed the
importance of the Israeli step, describing it as an abuse of the human
feelings and an attempt to record a point before the American
administration to call for further demands from the Palestinians in
return.
The
number of detained Palestinians in the Israeli prisons and detention
camp is more over 8000.
