KUALA
LUMPUR, April 6 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) – The prime
purpose of the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq is to maintain the
security of Israel and annihilate any source that could pose threats to
the Jewish state in the Middle East, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir
Mohammed charged Sunday, April 6.
Speaking
on Al-Jazeera satellite channel, Mahathir said one of the main goals of
the U.S.-led invasion is also to make sure that Iraq would be a spent
force incapable of defending itself in the future and to take control of
its oil resources.
He
said that the United Nations has lost its credibility and become of no
use at all given the fact that it has failed to protect the
international legitimacy from being violated and lacked necessary
mechanisms to achieve its assigned tasks.
The
Malaysian premier hoped that the Muslim nation would consolidate its
bonds with the anti-war European countries, which came to adopt a
positive stance on the Iraq crisis and pressed for respecting the role
of the world body.
He
also urged the anti-war countries worldwide to act in unison vis-à-vis
the Iraq war and stand up to the U.S. and Britain, noting that the
American people should topple the current administration to put an end
to its aggressive policies.
Mahathir
said that forcing a regime change in Iraq was destined to failure and
would never win the hearts or cooperation of the Iraqi people, asserting
that the Iraqis would see it as a proxy foreign government.
He
further said that if the U.S. succeeded in defeating the Iraqis and
imposing a government there of its own choice, Iraq’s neighboring
countries would consequently feel insecure, adding that Syria might be
the second target on the U.S. list under the pretext of helping the
Iraqis in their war against the U.S.-led invasion.
Mahathir
concluded his interview with the Qatar-based channel saying that the
U.S. see Syria, Pakistan and Iran as potential threat to its national
security.
