DHAKA,
December 1 (IslamOnline) - Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami held Sheikh
Hasina responsible for the sad remarks by Indian Ministers, resolution
of European Parliament and foreign media reports tarnishing image of
the country.
“No
responsible person can make such remarks against the motherland
sitting in foreign soil. The consequence may be perilous for the
country as it happened in Afghanistan,” Nizami told a journalist on
November 30 afternoon at jamaat
central office. Agriculture Minister Nizami, also Ameer of
Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI), partner of the 4-party alliance government,
explained his party position, which is often branded close to Taliban
and Al-Qaeda.
“Remarks
by three Indian Ministers, resolution passed in the European
Parliament and foreign media reports are nothing but reflection of the
remarks of the Awami League president Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
He
said Sheikh Hasina started labeling Bangladesh with Taliban, Harkutul
Jihad, Laden, Al-Qaeda. But none of which she could prove during her
tenure as Prime Minister and thereafter. Such misleading propaganda is
indeed sad, politically motivated and perilous for the nation.
"For
these sad remarks by the opposition leader Sheikh Hasina, our manpower
export has fallen far down which brings us a large amount of foreign
currency", he added.
Maulana
Motiur Rahman Nizami condemned the objectionable comments of Indian
Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, Defence Minister George Farnandez and
Foreign Minister Yaswant Sinha about Bangladesh and said we don't
expect these kinds of remarks from our neighbour country. We want to
keep up a good relation with our neighbours, he added
Nizami
made it clear that Jamaat is a party believed in democracy. None could
prove its involvement with any terrorist activity.
The
Jamaat leader told a questioner that the recent remarks of Indian
Ministers and resolution of the European Parliament tantamount to
interference into internal affairs of an independent and sovereign
country.
“The
Awami League lobbyist prepared the draft of European Parliament
resolution. We don’t think that EU has played a responsible role. We
as others in the world expect more responsible role in scrutinizing
allegations put up against any country,” he said.
Nizami
hoped that India would manifest his broad mentality by abstaining from
making false propaganda against its neighbours. He urged the people to
remain alert against the propaganda of the opposition leader.
Earliar
Jamaat-e-Islami, major partner of the government, strongly protested
the resolution of European Parliament on Bangladesh and termed it
“baseless, improper, undesirable”.
Jamaat
urged the European Parliament to withdraw its ‘false and imaginary
resolution’ that claimed violation of human rights, Islamic
radicalization and persecution of minority during the joint operation
of army and police against terrorism.
A
statement issued by Muhammad Kamaruzzaman, Asstt Secretary General of
Jamaat, said hypothesis-based remark is improper, undesirable and
woeful and called for its withdrawal. He said world citizenry don’t
expect such type of confusing and imaginary remark from the champions
of democracy.
The
remarks of European Parliament are not only condemnable but also very
objectionable. It is similar to naked interference into internal
affairs of Bangladesh. It is crystal clear that European Union has
adopted the resolution provoked by any lobbyist, said the statement
