GAZA
CITY, November 22 (IslamOnline) – Three Israeli army soldiers were
killed Friday, November 22, by the Palestinian resistance in the
southern Gaza Strip nearby the Jewish settlement of Gush Katif,
according to a statement by the military wing of Hamas.
Hamas
statement, a copy of which was sent to IslamOnline, said, “One of our
activists carried out the ambush, and killed three Israeli soldiers. At
exactly 6:50 am (4:50 GMT), an el-Qassam Brigades’ knight ambushed an
Israeli patrol comprising three occupation soldiers, opened fire and
threw hand grenades on them, killing the three.
“He
then started stripping them of their weapons, and retreated safely to
our bases. It was supposed to be a martyr operation, however, our hero
carried his mission out to the letter and returned safe after making
sure the three Zionists were killed,” the statement added.
El-Qassam
congratulated the Palestinian people on that successful operation,
promising them to keep resisting till the liberation of the last inch of
the occupied Palestinian land.
However,
the Israeli army told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that only one soldier
was killed. According to the army, a sergeant, was hit by fire coming
from greenhouses as he was patrolling the area.
