Christian
and Muslim clerics from several countries "condemned the occupation
of Palestinian territories" and urged the international community
to "intervene immediately to ensure implementation of U.N.
resolutions," reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Participants
in the conference, the 10th of its kind, called on the world community
to "define terrorism which targets civilians and innocent people or
their properties."

Resistance
is a "right guaranteed by all religions" and "a
sacred duty", clerics urge

"It
is not permissible to use religion as a cover to terrorize civilians or
attack Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and elsewhere,"
they said in a statement.
The
clerics, who began their meeting in the Bahraini capital on Monday,
October 28, said that resistance was a "right guaranteed by all
religions for victims of injustice or aggression."
As
a matter of fact, "divine laws consider self-defense and resistance
of the occupier a sacred duty," said the statement, which also
rejected "all forms of discrimination among human beings."
