Reports: Five U.S. Soldiers Killed in Kandahar

Many
Afghanis oppose the U.S. presence in their country

PESHAWAR,
July 10 (IslamOnline) – A Pakistani newspaper reported Wednesday
that five American soldiers were killed as they were being driven
around in one of the streets in Kandahar, by a group of people who
oppose the U.S. presence in Afghanistan.
The
daily newspaper Wahdet, said that the soldiers were in a taxi that did
not carry a number plate, and that they were wearing Afghani outfits.
A
group of people were able to identify them, however, and when they
were sure that they were Americans, they immediately shot them dead.
The
Pakistani paper added that a U.S. military patrol came instantly to
the location of the incident and the bodies of the soldiers were
transferred to one of the U.S. military camps in the city.
Speaking
to IslamOnline, Sabghatullah, the official in charge of the immigrant
camp in the city of Boldeck in Kandahar, said that the residents of
the city are talking about the incident but that he is unable to
confirm it.
U.S.
soldiers in Afghanistan usually dress like Afghans to be able to enter
the cities without meeting opposition from those who oppose their
presence in the country.
On
Thursday, July 4th, the same paper quoted eyewitnesses saying that
some Al Qaeda members have succeeded in fleeing the Jerma Bridge area,
which lies five kilometers south of Kuhat, 70 kilometers south of
Peshawar and have disappeared from the area. The paper said that the
Pakistani forces which is supported by military helicopters have
started a search for them.
This,
according the paper, led to the death of four Al Qaeda members, two of
the Pakistani forces, one of them a police officer and two additional
soldiers were also killed in the conflict which took place between the
al Qaeda and the Pakistani forces.
Pakistani
newspaper al Mashreq, reported on June 19,that the Al Qaeda and
Taliban members killed forty soldiers from the U.S. special forces in
the southeast area in Afghanistan, near the Pakistani borders. This
led to the U.S. retaliating and bombing the entire area.
