OCCUPIED JERUSALEM,
July 7 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - The Israeli army finally
admitted in a statement Sunday, July 7, that troops had opened fire
near Netzarim south of
Gaza
City
where a Palestinian mother and her two-year-old toddler were killed
the day before.
“After
a first inquiry by Tsahal [the Israeli army] it emerges that there was
shooting with light arms Saturday morning in the Netzarim sector after
a Tsahal unit saw suspect silhouettes,” the statement said, reported
Agence France-Presse (AFP).
“The
possibility that two Palestinians were hit by these shots in this
incident, as Palestinian sources affirm, is being examined by
Tsahal,” the statement added.
Randa
Al-Hindi, 40, and her daughter Nour were killed while driving south of
the city near the Netzarim junction when Israeli troops began
shooting, Palestinian medical sources had said.
An
Israeli spokesman said on Saturday, July 6, there had been no firing
in the area at the time and he had no knowledge of such an incident.
Meanwhile,
the Palestinian News Agency WAFA reported Sunday that the Israeli army
shot missiles on the Abraj Al Nada area in Beit Hanoun.
Eye
witnesses said that the occupation forces, that are based on the
military surveillance towers opposite the industrial area in Beit
Hanoun fired missiles on the area in a haphazard fashion, WAFA
reported.
The
firing caused great panic among the residents of the area, especially
among the children and women.
In
Ramallah, the occupation forces also blew up Al Manama building
Saturday night, which is located near the police headquarters in Al
Tayera area, WAFA said.
The
agency also reported that the occupation forces also forcefully
entered last night the police station in
Bethlehem
.
Police
sources told WAFA that the occupation forces searched the center
before blowing up a safe deposit box inside it and confiscating a Jeep
it found at the center.
