GAZA
CITY, June 24 (IslamOnline) - The Hamas movement will not struggle
against the Palestinian Authority (PA) because of the house arrest
decision against the movement’s leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, which
the PA issued Monday, June 24.
“Our
struggle is not with the authority, and we are not enemies,” said
Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the spiritual leader of the Islamic Resistance
Movement Hamas, in an interview with IslamOnline.
“We
will not use our weapons against the Palestinian Authority or against
any other Palestinian, as our weapons will remain pointing at the
Israeli enemy,” he added.
But
Yassin rejected the orders by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat
putting him under house arrest, saying that it comes at a time the
Israeli army invades the Palestinian territories and kills
Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Such
a decision does not help the Palestinian national interest, instead,
it serves the occupier interests, adding that Israel and the U.S. want
Hamas struggle with them to turn into an interior struggle with the
Palestinian authority, so that Israel will benefit from it and
continues its aggression.
“And
instead of rewarding the Palestinian Authority for its decision to put
me under house arrest, the Israelis besieged President Yasser Arafat
and put him under house arrest in Ramallah,” Yassin said.
Describing
the relation between Hamas and the authority as according to what
should be done in the current deteriorating situation, Yassin said
that “the more concessions are given to the Israeli enemy, the more
they ask, as the Israelis will never be satisfied unless we all
surrender.”
This
will never happen because the Palestinian people will not stop its
resistance and surrender and bow in front of the Israeli storm, he
added.
“That
is why Hamas and the Palestinian authority can not have normal
relations,” he added.
However,
Yassin said that there are several attempts to solve this crisis with
the Palestinian Authority and predicted that it will end peacefully.
Yassin
said he was not informed of this decision of house arrest, but on the
ground, police forces are surrounding his house and the media says
there is a house arrest.
He
added that he will pursue a normal life and will go out.
The
national and Islamic follow up committees met and refused the house
arrest orders, he said.
They
also met with Eltayeb Abdel Rahim, secretary general of the
Palestinian presidency and demanded the cancellation of the orders,
but he told them that it was up to ‘Abu Ammar’ [Yasser Arafat], he
added.
Yassin
also confirmed that the resistance movement will retaliate for the
Israeli killing of six Palestinians, including four from the Ezz
El-Din El-Qassam Brigade.
“We
will take revenge on the enemy and answer their attacks,” he said.
“The
moment the enemy kills and destroys, the Palestinian Authority does
the same to the Palestinian people,” he added.
“It’s
a double sided operation and it is not acceptable from the authority
to do it aiming to satisfy Washington,” Yassin said.
