CITY
, June 24 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Two Israeli helicopters
fired missiles early Monday, June 24, at two civilian cars in the
southern Gaza Strip town of
Rafah
, killing six Palestinians and wounding ten.
Three
Israeli air-to-surface missiles struck the Geneina district near the
town of
Rafah
, completely destroying a civilian car and damaging two others.
The
shelling reduced the victims’ bodies to torn-off limbs. Palestinian
physician Ali Moussa told IslamOnline it was difficult to recognize
any of the six dead, adding that the ten injured suffered serious
wounds.
Palestinian
security officials called the helicopter raid a case of "targeted
assassination" of a member of the Ezz-el-Din Al-Qassam Brigades,
who was killed along with his brother.
Meanwhile,
the Israeli army acknowledged Monday killing a senior official of the
Palestinian resistance group Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip raid.
"Israeli
security forces killed Yasser Rizq, 29, a senior official of Hamas in
Rafah," an army spokesman said in a statement carried by Agence
France-Presse (AFP).
The
statement did not mention any other casualties, but Rizq was one of
six people who died in the Israeli helicopters attack, AFP added.
Ten
people were also wounded in the missile attacks, the hospital sources
confirmed.
The
Israeli army claimed that murdered Rizq was responsible for a January
9 attack in which two fighters from Rafah exchanged fire with four
Israeli soldiers, including an officer, killing the soldiers, before
being shot dead themselves.
The
Israeli army spokesman admitted that Rizq had been imprisoned in
Israel
in 1992-1993.
