PALESTINE,
June 23 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – The latest census of
death toll among Palestinian children, due to Israeli vicious attacks
on the Palestinian lands, has amounted to 505 children – below 18
years old - until last Friday, June 21, 2002.
Dr.
Riad El-Zanoun, Palestinian Minister of Health, announced Saturday,
June 22, 2002, to reporters that 505 innocent children died since the
Israeli major operations in the West Bank two months ago, representing
19% of the total death toll among Palestinian civilians which reached
1,365 deaths.
He
also reports that almost 3,000 Palestinian children are wounded
representing 40% of the total wounded Palestinians civilians.
On
Friday, June 22, 2002, Israeli tanks opened fire on a market in Jenin,
killing four Palestinian children and a man and wounding 26 others who
wrongly thought a curfew had been lifted. The Israeli army later
claimed it had made a mistake.
In
Gaza, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights, reports that the
Israeli incursions caused the death of 276 Palestinian Children,
turned four schools into prisons and military stations, destroyed
completely 47 schools and hindered the educational process, on
purpose, on the Palestinian lands.
Israel
has called up 2,000 army reservists as troops to take control of five
major Palestinian towns in the West Bank.
In
the latest incursion, about 60 Israeli armored vehicles pushed into
Qalqilya on Sunday. Troops have also moved back into Bethlehem, Jenin,
Nablus and Tulkarm.
A
senior Israeli defense official, Amos Yaron, warned of a
"crushing offensive" in an attempt to halt Palestinian
attacks.
