JENIN,
June 5 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Dozens of Israeli
occupation tanks advanced into the northern West Bank town of Jenin on
Wednesday, June 5, firing their machine guns as they went.
An
Agence France-Presse (AFP) reporter in the town said that more than 30
tanks rumbled in from the north, west and east after encircling Jenin
as Apache attack helicopters strafed targets with heavy machine-gun
fire. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Jenin’s
refugee camp was devastated in an Israeli invasion in April after the
army stormed nearly all the cities in the West Bank.
Israeli
forces have entered the town several times since the massive Israeli
military offensive codenamed “Operation Defensive Shield” ended on
May 10, including in a raid on Tuesday.
Businesses
and shops closed in Jenin and people went home fearing an imminent
Israeli incursion, according to the same source.
Palestinian
News Agency WAFA reported that the Apache helicopters struck the
industrial area North East of Jenin.
Eyewitnesses
reported that the area included several factories and workshops
