Japanese Leave Pakistan Fearing Possible Indo-Pak War

Several countries have asked their nationals to leave Pakistan and India

By Asif Farooqi, IOL Pakistan correspondent

ISLAMABAD, June 3 (IslamOnline) - Japanese nationals residing in Pakistan have been asked by their government to leave the country as soon as possible.

Whereas most of the Japanese private citizens and corporation’s staff, including the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have decided to leave Pakistan for the time being, Japanese embassy staff will keep working normally, a Japanese Embassy official told IslamOnline Thursday, May 3o.

This decision from the Japanese government follows many other countries who over the past few days either have asked their nationals to leave Pakistan and India or have issued travel warnings about these two South Asian countries.

The countries who have already dubbed Pakistan and Indian as “dangerous” places include Britain, Germany, France, United States, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Nations, who have issued similar directives to their citizens in Pakistan and India.

Special briefing was arranged in the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad on Thursday for the Japanese nationals.

A senior security official of the embassy while analyzing the Pak-India border tensions concluded that a war between the two countries was imminent.

“Our analysis is that the a war could be sparked off as early as in three to four days,” a Japanese security official told the briefing.

The JICA offices are likely to announced seizure of their operation tomorrow as the Japanese family were reported to have already started packing up to catch the earliest possible flight.
