KHOST, May 25 (IslamOnline) – In the second incident of its kind this week, American military planes threw “accidental” missiles at an Afghani wedding procession in the province of Khost, East Afghanistan.
Four people were seriously injured when the vehicle they were in was completely destroyed in the attack.
Sur Jel, the head of security in Khost told IslamOnline that the incident took place when the American planes fired at a wedding procession which had 50 vehicles on Thursday, May 23. The procession was on its way from the Pakistani city of Meranshah to Khost.
The military planes fired at the procession after one of the wedding’s guests fired a few bullets in the air, in line with the Pushtun tradition.
“We have asked the residents of Khost not to fire bullets into the air during weddings to avoid being hit by American missiles but there seems to be no compliance,” he said.
On May 17, 10 Afghani civilians were killed when a wedding they were attending was also targeted by U.S. missiles. At the time U.S. military officials said that the strike was ‘accidental’.
